Privacy Policy for Tapewise
Who this policy is for
This policy is for anyone who installs or uses Tapewise, the Android application published by Makwana Kalusinh Chandusinh under the application ID com.quietrule.tapewise. It explains what Tapewise does and does not do with information, in plain language.
Tapewise is an offline utility for storing the measurements of your own home and for checking whether an item will fit into a space or travel along a route through your home. It is a measuring notebook and a calculator, not a service. There is no Tapewise account, no Tapewise server, and no Tapewise sign-in.
This policy covers the Tapewise Android application only. It does not cover any other application, website or service.
The short version
Tapewise collects nothing about you and sends nothing anywhere. The app does not hold the Android INTERNET permission, so it has no ability to transmit data off your device at all. Everything you enter is written to a private database inside the app's own storage area on your phone or tablet, and it stays there until you erase it or uninstall the app. There are no adverts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking and no user account.
What data Tapewise collects
Tapewise collects no data.
Because "nothing" is a strong claim, here is precisely what it means in this app:
- Tapewise does not collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address or any other contact detail.
- Tapewise does not ask you to create an account, sign in, register or verify anything.
- Tapewise does not collect or derive your location, whether precise or approximate.
- Tapewise does not collect device identifiers, the Android advertising ID, an installation ID, a hardware serial, an IMEI, a MAC address or any similar identifier.
- Tapewise does not collect usage or interaction data. It does not record which screens you open, which buttons you press, how long you use the app, or how often you open it.
- Tapewise does not collect diagnostic data, performance data, stack traces or crash reports.
- Tapewise does not read your contacts, calendar, call log, SMS messages, photos, media library or documents.
- Tapewise does not use the camera, the microphone, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi scanning, nearby device scanning or any sensor.
- Tapewise does not build a profile of you and does not attempt to identify you.
There is no analytics pipeline, no event log, no server-side account record and no dataset held by the developer that relates to you. The developer of Tapewise cannot see your measurements, your rooms, your routes or anything else you enter, because that information never leaves your device.
What you store on your own device, and where
The information you type into Tapewise is yours and it is stored locally on your device. Specifically:
A private on-device database. Tapewise uses an SQLite database managed through the Android Room library. It holds:
- the rooms you create and the names you give them;
- the spaces you save inside those rooms, each of which is a PASSAGE (a doorway, corridor, stairwell or lift opening you move things through, recorded as width x height), a SLOT (an alcove, shelf gap or under-counter cavity something sits inside, recorded as width x height x depth), or a SURFACE (a worktop, table or shelf board something sits on, recorded as width x depth with optional headroom);
- any notes or labels you attach to those spaces;
- the routes you build, which are ordered chains of passages, for example Front door -> Hall -> Stair turn -> Bedroom door.
All measurements are stored as whole millimetres. Whether you view them in centimetres, millimetres or inches is a display setting only.
A small preferences file. Tapewise uses Android DataStore to remember your settings, such as your chosen theme and your chosen display unit. This file contains preferences, not personal information.
Both the database and the preferences file live inside the app's own private storage sandbox, which Android protects from other applications on the device. They are not written to shared storage, they are not placed in your Downloads or Documents folders, and they are not indexed by the media scanner.
The results of a Fit Check or a Route Check are calculated on your device, on demand, from the numbers you have entered. Nothing is looked up remotely.
Permissions the app requests
Tapewise requests no Android permissions whatsoever. The application manifest declares none.
If you inspect the app's entry in Android Settings, or its listing on Google Play under "App permissions", you should see that no permissions are requested. Permissions Tapewise deliberately does not request include:
- INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - not requested, because the app has no network features and no code that would use them. This is the permission that makes all of the other claims in this policy verifiable.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION - not requested. Tapewise has no location features.
- CAMERA - not requested. Tapewise does not measure anything through a camera and has no augmented reality or photo capability. You type your measurements in yourself.
- RECORD_AUDIO - not requested. There is no voice input and no audio capability.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO and MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - not requested. Export and import use the Android Storage Access Framework, which does not require a storage permission, as described below.
- READ_CONTACTS and WRITE_CONTACTS - not requested. Tapewise has no contact or sharing features.
- READ_CALENDAR and WRITE_CALENDAR - not requested.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS - not requested. Tapewise sends no notifications.
- BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN and NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES - not requested. Tapewise does not connect to laser measures or any other external device.
- READ_PHONE_STATE, CALL_PHONE, READ_SMS, SEND_SMS, BODY_SENSORS and ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION - not requested.
- AD_ID (the Google advertising identifier permission) - not requested. Tapewise shows no adverts.
Tapewise cannot be granted a permission it does not declare, so these capabilities are not available to it even if you wanted to enable them.
Network access
Tapewise has no network access.
The app does not declare the android.permission.INTERNET permission. On Android, an application without that permission cannot open a network socket. Any attempt to do so fails at the operating system level. Tapewise therefore cannot:
- send your measurements, rooms, spaces or routes to anyone;
- contact a server belonging to the developer, because no such server exists for this app;
- contact a third-party server, analytics endpoint, advert exchange or crash-reporting service;
- download content, adverts, configuration or updates of its own (app updates are delivered by Google Play, not by Tapewise);
- check for a licence, a subscription or an entitlement.
Beyond the missing permission, the app contains no networking code of any kind. There is no HTTP client, no socket code and no networking library bundled into it.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
Itemised, so there is no ambiguity:
- Analytics: none. No Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no third-party analytics SDK, no self-hosted analytics, no event logging.
- Crash reporting: none. No Crashlytics, no Sentry, no Bugsnag, no automatic crash or ANR upload from within the app. (Android itself may offer you the choice to send diagnostic information to Google or your device manufacturer. That is an operating system feature outside Tapewise's control and is governed by their policies, not this one.)
- Advertising: none. No advert SDK, no advert network, no interstitials, no banners, no rewarded video, no sponsored content, no affiliate links.
- Advertising identifiers: none. Tapewise does not read the Android advertising ID and does not declare the AD_ID permission.
- Tracking: none. No cross-app tracking, no cross-device tracking, no fingerprinting, no cookies, no pixels, no attribution or install-referrer SDK.
- Firebase: not used at all, in any of its forms.
- Push messaging: none.
- Remote configuration or feature flags: none.
Tapewise contains no third-party software development kit that collects, transmits or processes user data.
Backups and exported files
Tapewise gives you a way to take your own copy of your own data.
Export. You may choose to export everything you have saved as a single JSON file. When you do this, Tapewise uses the Android Storage Access Framework by launching the system "create document" picker (ACTION_CREATE_DOCUMENT). You choose the destination yourself. The app writes to that one file and nothing else. It never receives access to the rest of your storage.
Import. Restoring works the same way in reverse. Tapewise launches the system "open document" picker (ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT), you choose one file, and the app reads that one file only.
Your responsibility for exported files. Once an exported file has been written, it is an ordinary file on your device or in whatever storage location you chose, and it is outside the app's control. If you save it to a cloud drive, email it to yourself, copy it to a computer, or share it with someone, that copy is governed by the terms of whichever service or person now holds it, not by this policy. Tapewise does not upload the file, does not track where it goes, and cannot delete it for you. Please treat an export as you would treat any other document containing details about your home, and store it somewhere you are comfortable with.
Erase all data. Tapewise includes an "Erase all data" action that deletes every record it holds in a single database transaction. This is immediate and cannot be undone from within the app. It does not delete any export file you have already written elsewhere, because the app has no access to that file.
Android system backup
Android can normally copy an app's data into a user's Google account for cloud backup, and can transfer it to a new handset during device-to-device setup.
Tapewise disables both. The app sets android:allowBackup="false" in its manifest and additionally ships backup exclusion rules. The practical effect is that your Tapewise measurements are not copied into Google Drive backups and are not carried across during device transfer by the operating system.
There are two consequences, one good and one to be aware of:
- Your data is not silently copied off your device by the platform, which is consistent with everything else in this policy.
- Because there is no automatic backup, you are responsible for keeping your own copy. If you lose your device, reset it, or uninstall Tapewise, the data is gone unless you exported it first. Use the export feature if your measurements matter to you.
Children's privacy
Tapewise is a household utility intended for general audiences, most typically adults who are buying, moving or fitting furniture and appliances. It is not directed at children and it is not designed to appeal to children.
Tapewise collects no personal information from anybody, and it therefore collects no personal information from children. There is no mechanism in the app by which a child, or anyone else, could disclose personal information to the developer, because nothing is transmitted.
If you believe a child has entered information into a copy of Tapewise on a device you control, you can remove it entirely using "Erase all data" in the app, or by uninstalling the app.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated, for example if the app gains a feature that changes how information is handled. If that happens:
- the revised policy will be published at https://highhauk.online/ with a new effective date at the top;
- material changes, particularly any change that would introduce data collection or network access, will be described plainly rather than buried;
- continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies to your use.
Previous versions are superseded by the version published at the address above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you rights over personal data held about you, including rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability.
An honest note about how these apply here: most of these rights have no data to act on in the case of Tapewise, because the developer holds no personal data about you. There is no account record, no server-side database, no analytics profile and no log file. A request for a copy of your data would be answered with the statement that none is held.
In practice:
- Access and portability. Everything the app knows is on your device and visible to you in the app. The export feature produces a complete, readable JSON copy of it.
- Correction. You can edit or delete any room, space or route directly in the app.
- Erasure. "Erase all data" removes every record in one transaction. Uninstalling Tapewise removes the app's database, its preferences file and all of its remaining data from the device, as Android removes an app's private storage sandbox on uninstall. Together these are the complete deletion path. No separate deletion request to the developer is necessary, and no such request could remove anything further, because nothing further is held.
- Objection and restriction. There is no processing by the developer to object to or restrict.
If you contact ajyg856915@gmail.com to exercise a right, you will receive a truthful answer, which in most cases will be that no data about you exists to provide, correct or delete.
